The Ekiti State Government has intensified efforts towards sustaining the gains of the Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project through strategic investments in digital literacy and human capital development for youths across the State.
This was evident at the Ekiti Digital Acceleration Programme Graduation and Starter Pack Distribution Ceremony organized by the Ministry of Youths Development, where beneficiaries were equipped with digital skills and presented with laptop devices to support their entrepreneurial and career pursuits.
Speaking during the event, the representative of the Commissioner for Education and Project Coordinator of AGILE in Ekiti State, Mrs. Yewande Adesua, described the initiative as a practical demonstration of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s commitment to youth empowerment, innovation, and economic growth.
She noted that the programme aligns with the sustainability vision of the AGILE Project through continuous investment in digital literacy and empowerment initiatives capable of preparing young people for global competitiveness.
According to her, the programme serves as a platform for opening doors to opportunities, creativity, innovation, and self-reliance for beneficiaries.
Earlier in his remarks, the Commissioner for Youths Development, Hon. Adesola Gold Adedayo, stated that the Ekiti Digital Acceleration Programme was deliberately designed to prepare young people for opportunities within the digital economy and enable them transition from learning to earning.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths Development, Mr. Olawale Olaleye, explained that the distribution of laptops to beneficiaries would not only support their career development but also provide continuous mentorship and engagement aimed at ensuring productive utilization of the acquired digital skills.
Dignitaries at the event commended the State Government for prioritizing digital transformation, innovation, and youth-focused programmes capable of reducing unemployment and promoting economic development.
The highpoint of the ceremony was the graduation of participants and presentation of laptop devices to beneficiaries.
