All Souls Grammar School, Ado-Ekiti, made history on Friday, May 9, 2025, by winning both the male and female categories of the Ekiti State AGILE intra-school basketball competition, held at the Pavilion, Ado-Ekiti.
Organized by the Ekiti State Ministry of Education through the Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project, the 2025 AGILE Games brought together four prominent secondary schools—All Souls Grammar School, Anglican High School, Ado Grammar School, and Government College—for a spirited round-robin basketball tournament.
From the opening whistle to the final buzzer, the competition was intense, showcasing the athletic talents of young students across the state. In the girls’ category, All Souls Grammar School dominated the court with tactical precision and unwavering focus, securing victory in all their matches. Their male counterparts delivered equally impressive performances, overpowering their opponents and sealing the championship title in the boys’ category as well.
With both teams emerging undefeated, All Souls Grammar School is now set to represent Ekiti State in the regional playoff match against Borno State, scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, 2025, also in Ado-Ekiti. The winner of the regional tie will earn a coveted spot in the National AGILE Basketball Championship in Abuja.
In recognition of their commitment and sportsmanship, certificates of participation were awarded to all participating schools. The gesture, according to organizers, was aimed at encouraging continuous involvement and building the spirit of healthy competition among students.
Principal of All Souls Grammar School, Mrs. Titilay Adeyeye, while addressing the press, expressed confidence in her teams’ ability to rise to the occasion during the playoff. “I believe in their strength, resilience, and sportsmanship. I am sure they will make Ekiti proud,” she said.
Also speaking, Ekiti State AGILE Project Coordinator, Mrs. Yewande Adesua, commended the schools for their enthusiasm and discipline throughout the tournament. She noted that the AGILE Games have succeeded in uniting students and fostering interaction beyond the classroom. “This event has brought the spirit of oneness and unity among students. They have had the opportunity to connect, compete, and grow together,” she said.
The tournament marked another significant stride in the AGILE Project’s goal of empowering adolescents through extracurricular platforms that encourage excellence, leadership, and collaboration.
