The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has commended the Ekiti State Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project for its financial transparency and compliance with tax regulations.

The commendation followed a two-day assessment of the project’s financial records for the last fiscal year, conducted by a team of FIRS officials at the AGILE Project Office.

Speaking at the end of the exercise, the FIRS Tax Manager, Mr Adegboyega Ebenezer, said the project’s financial records were well organised, accurate and transparent.

Ebenezer said all statutory deductions and tax obligations were properly computed, documented and remitted.

According to him, the project’s accounting system demonstrates strong internal control mechanisms and institutional accountability.

He described the AGILE Project as a model for public sector initiatives, noting that government-funded projects could maintain professionalism and strict adherence to financial and tax laws.

He urged the project management to sustain the standard and continue to uphold best practices in financial management.

In her remarks, the Ekiti AGILE Project Coordinator, Mrs Yewande Adesua, thanked the FIRS team for what she described as a thorough and objective assessment.

Adesua reaffirmed the project’s commitment to transparency, accountability and compliance with statutory regulations.

She attributed the project’s tax compliance to the dedication of the Project Accountant, Mr Tolulope Jegede, whom she described as diligent in maintaining accurate financial records.

The coordinator said strong financial governance was critical to the credibility and sustainability of the World Bank-supported project.

Also speaking, Jegede thanked the project coordinator for her leadership and the FIRS team for their professionalism.

He said the evaluation had strengthened the project’s financial systems and provided insights for continuous improvement.
